3 Films From Bengal Selected for JIFF Indian Panorama

It's a proud moment for the Bengali film fraternity as three movies from our region get selected in the National and International platform. Launch of torch campaign of Jaipur International Film Festival. JIFF Indian Panorama in Kolkata. This is India's biggest promotional campaign for cinema. Twelve regional films have been selected among which Homecoming, Mahishasur Mardini and Jhilli are from Bengal.

The aim of this campaign is to showcase the talent and potential of regional cinema and support upcoming filmmakers. So it's a great opportunity for all to come together and celebrate our cinema.

"Really glad that three among twelve movies from Bengal get selected. As many as such movies from Bengal will get selected in National and International platform, the more people will get to know about Bengali movies from all over the world ", as said by popular actor Saswata Chatterjee who played one of the protagonist in "Mahishasur Mardini" directed by Goutam Ghosh.

We live in a strange dichotomy in India about National cinema and regional cinema. Every cinema is regional cinema including Hindi cinema. Every film is regional film as well as National cinema and sometimes some region become International cinema. So that is very exciting for India that we make so many cinema in n regional language.  As said by renowned director Goutam Ghosh. He added that this torch campaign is to make people aware that great cinemas are born in region and then it become National and International.

It's Okay To Cry And Still Be A Man

O
n International Men's Day, we honour all of the men who have helped to create and shape the society. Around the world, millions of men are working towards creating a more open, egalitarian and just world for us all.

Today is International Men's Day, a day to celebrate the contributions and achievements of men around the world. This year's theme is "Making a Difference for Men and Boys," and it's a chance to focus on the ways we can all help make society a better place for everyone.

One of the most important things we can do for men and boys is to help them feel comfortable talking about their feelings and emotions. Too often, men are told to "just suck it up" when they're feeling down, which can lead to all sorts of problems down the road. We need to normalize emotional expression for men and boys, and let them know it's okay to be vulnerable.

We can also help men and boys by teaching them about healthy relationships. Too often, boys are taught that they need to be "tough" and "in control" all the time, which can lead to toxic and abusive behavior. It's important to teach boys that it's okay to be sensitive and emotional, and that there's nothing wrong with wanting to be close to someone.

Finally, we can help make society better for men and boys by working to end gender stereotypes. We need to challenge the idea that there are "boy things" and "girl things," and that men and women are somehow fundamentally different. We need to show everyone that everyone can succeed at anything they put their mind to, regardless of their gender.

Promising table tennis player Ankolika's calmness is her strength, says coach

Introduction

Ankolika Chakrabarty is presently the country's one of the most promising table tennis players. The 11-year-old girl has recently won the gold medal in the singles of the under 11 category World Youth Contender championship, held in Cairo and hogged the searchlight. The girl who is number one in India in sub-junior category is presently ranked 11th in the world after the gold medal in Cairo. Ankolika is a student in the 5th standard in St. Luke's School in Naihati. Her coach Prasenjit Sarkar while speaking to Bong Journal over phone from Naihati sounded optimistic on her student's future saying, "Ankolika is very calm and nonchalant by nature and I feel that is one of the major strengths. Even after having clinched the gold medal in Cairo, she did not get ecstatic. She only had a smile while standing on the podium rather. I feel she can store her psychological strength." Ankolika also did not hesitate to reveal that following advice from her coach, she has to leave a lot of favorite food items, especially the spicy items and she does not have any regret for that.

Ankolika's Aspiration

The most favorite table tennis player of Ankolika is Manika Batra. She uttered, "I want to become a player like Manika Batra. I want to be the national champion in the senior category." She has not yet obtained opportunity to even shake hands with her favorite Manika Batra. The girl who trains almost six hours every day disclosed, "I also have a dream that one day I am shaking hands with Manika, taking some advice from her."

Usage of Rubber is the Key Factor

Prasenjit clarified, "The table tennis all over the world has reached such a stage where usage of rubbers has been a crucial factor. He explained, "The difference between the top paddlers is not much. The player who is making difference is using his or her rubber perfectly. Ankolika plays with long-pimpled rubber and it is tricky in its character. If Ankolika can sharpen the technique of playing with this rubber she can shine in international level also."

The Nepotism and Coach's Frustration

Only a few months ago, Ankolika could not participate in an international competition in Portugal despite being the country's number one-ranked paddler. She was replaced by the player for the competition whose ranking was 46th. Prasenjit lamented, "The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) failed to let us know why this Ankolika was deprived despite being the country's number one-ranked paddler." That is why the coach has decided to send her student individually. Prasenjit clarified, "It will be too tough to bear expenses from own to send her to all the competitions abroad. Still, I will try my best. Ankolika will go to Doha to take part in another competition in January."
